 Annual Softball Tournament The 2006 14th Annual “Swanny” Swanson Softball Tournament will be held September 2, 3, and 4 in Frewsburg NY. This years entry fee will be $275 per team. The Softball Tournament has raised over $20,000 for the scholarship fund. For registration information please contact tournamentdir@swannymemorial.org. In addition to the previous years rules, we have added the following changes for safety and liability reasons: All bats being used in this years tournament must meet ASA/NSA certification meeting the BP1.20 rating. All bats must have a legible certification clearly visible on the barrel or at a minimum legible manufacturer and model information. If the certification or model information is not legible, the bat will not be allowed and any player using said bat will be assessed an out during their at bat with said unapproved bat. It is the responsibility of the players, manager, and officials to adhere to this rule. All players must fill out a waiver releasing the Frewsburg Central School District from any and all liability for use of their facilities. We have changed the main field from the town park to the fenced in grade school field. As the tournament director, I agreed to this stipulation in order to maintain use of these fields. Without the waivers, we would have been required to obtain insurance coverage for the weekend, and would not have been able to financially support the tournament. Members of the tournament staff will be at each field before playing the first games of the day to ensure each player completes the waiver form. If there are any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact us. In years past the tournament has been held in Randolph. In 2001, because the Frewsburg School District built new ball fields and allowed the tournament to use them, Tom and Andrea Mott were able to bring the tournament back to Frewsburg. The Scholarship Committee would like to thank Tom and Andrea for all the hard work that goes in to setting up and running the tournament and helping to make the scholarship such a success! Annual Golf Tournament The Annual "Swanny" Swanson Golf Tournament at Cable Hollow has been held for over 15 years and has raised over $20,000 toward the scholarship fund. The Scholarship Committee would like to thank Steve Centi for all of the hard work that goes in to setting up and running the tournament and helping to make the Scholarship such a success!
